For 1991 Ford added a 200-hp 5.0-liter EFI V8 option to both the standard Thunderbird and Thunderbird LX. Their standard powertrain remained the 140-hp 3.8-liter V6 with automatic overdrive; Super Coupe continued with the 210-hp supercharged 3.8 and either five-speed manual or optional automatic.
