For 1986 Ford marketed Thunderbird, Thunderbird élan, and Turbo Coupe. Thunderbird and élan shared the 3.8-liter V6 with SelectShift or Automatic Overdrive and an optional multi-port-EFI 5.0-liter V8 with Automatic Overdrive; Turbo Coupe retained the turbocharged 2.3-liter four with five-speed manual or SelectShift automatic.
