The 2011 model year
Overview
The all-new 2011 Charger introduced the LD body with a lower, more sculpted shape, full-width LED taillamps, a substantially redesigned cabin and two modernized engines. Dodge advertised seven named models—SE, Rallye, Rallye Plus, R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Road & Track and R/T Max. The 292-hp Pentastar V6 models were rear-drive-only for this model year; optional AWD was confined to R/T, R/T Plus and R/T Max.

Year over year
What changed
- A complete exterior redesign restored a stronger Coke-bottle profile, scalloped body surfaces and full-width LED rear lighting.
- The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 replaced both previous V6 engines with 292 hp and 260 lb-ft.
- The revised 5.7-liter HEMI produced 370 hp and 395 lb-ft while retaining cylinder-deactivating Fuel Saver Technology.
- The brochure reorganized the range into seven named models and restricted AWD to the three R/T equipment levels.
Worth knowing
Notable
- The factory lineup yields ten configuration pages after the three AWD-capable R/T models are separated by drivetrain.
- R/T Max added adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, navigation, parking aids and premium audio.
- No SRT8 appears in Dodge's 2011 Charger brochure; the redesigned SRT8 arrives for the following model year.
- The on-demand AWD system automatically engaged for wheel slip, AutoStick use, disabled stability control or active windshield wipers.
Living with it
Reliability & ownership notes
- Do not backdate later V6 AWD or eight-speed-automatic fitment: every 2011 Pentastar configuration in the factory brochure is rear-drive and uses the five-speed automatic.
- R/T AWD adds an active transfer case, front differential and automatic front-axle disconnect; RWD transmission and chassis fitment alone is insufficient.
- Road & Track is a defined R/T equipment package, not a different engine, but its 3.06 axle, wheel, tire, seating and available Super Track Pak hardware affect replacement parts.
- Maintenance requirements differ between Pentastar V6 and HEMI V8 configurations; use engine and drivetrain applicability on the rendered schedule.
