2010Dodge Charger

The nameplate revived as a rear-wheel-drive full-size FOUR-DOOR sedan on the Mercedes-influenced LX platform — controversial with purists who knew the Charger as a coupe. Offered the 5.7 Hemi and the 6.1 Hemi SRT8.

The 2010 model year

Overview

The 2010 Charger closed the original LX sedan generation with a reorganized trim ladder: SE, Charger 3.5L, Rallye, R/T and SRT8. The 3.5L and Rallye shared the 250-hp V6 but carried different equipment, and both were available with rear- or all-wheel drive; R/T likewise offered both drivetrains. Daytona and Super Bee no longer appear in Dodge's factory order matrix, while Road/Track continued as a defined R/T performance package.

Year over year

What changed

  • The former SXT position was renamed Charger 3.5L, with Rallye retained as a separate better-equipped 3.5-liter trim.
  • Dodge's matrix drops Daytona and Super Bee; neither is represented as a 2010 configuration.
  • New 18-inch machined aluminum wheels were added to R/T and R/T AWD.
  • The automatic front-axle-disconnect AWD system continued on 3.5L, Rallye and R/T.

Worth knowing

Notable

  • Nine meaningful retail configurations result when drivetrain choices and the Road/Track package are separated.
  • The 2.7-liter SE remains rear-drive-only; AWD is confined to 3.5L, Rallye and R/T.
  • SRT8 closes the generation with the 425-hp 6.1-liter HEMI and rear-wheel drive.
  • This was the final model year before the substantially redesigned 2011 LD Charger.

Living with it

Reliability & ownership notes

  • Confirm 3.5L versus Rallye equipment as well as drivetrain: both share the V6, but AWD changes the transmission, transfer case, front axle, brakes and wheel fitment.
  • The active-transfer-case AWD system must not be serviced using assumptions for the fixed full-time 2007–2008 arrangement.
  • Road/Track is a performance package on the R/T rather than a separate engine; its suspension, tire and brake fitment still differs from regular R/T equipment.
  • The owner's schedule remains engine-specific, including the 5.7-liter spark-plug interval and the 3.5-liter timing-belt requirement.
