The 2013 model year

Overview

For 2013 the Charger retained its SE, SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, R/T Plus, R/T Road & Track, R/T Max and SRT core lineup. The five-/eight-speed SE choice, eight-speed V6 models, V6 and V8 AWD availability, and rear-drive SRT configuration all continued. Dodge additionally documented a 300-hp Pentastar calibration with the Rallye Appearance Group or Blacktop Package, compared with 292 hp in the regular V6 models.

Specifications

  • 3.6L Pentastar V6 (regular SE/SXT/SXT Plus)292 hp

  • 5.7L VVT HEMI V8 with Fuel Saver Technology370 hp
  • 6.4L VVT HEMI V8 with Fuel Saver Technology (SRT)470 hp
Transmissions
5-speed automatic with AutoStick (standard SE and V8), 8-speed automatic with e-shift (optional SE; standard SXT/SXT Plus)
Body styles
4-door rear-wheel-drive sedan, 4-door on-demand all-wheel-drive sedan (SXT/SXT Plus and R/T/R/T Plus/R/T Max)

Year over year

What changed

  • Dodge explicitly rated Rallye Appearance and Blacktop V6 packages at 300 hp, eight horsepower above the regular Pentastar calibration.
  • The eight-speed automatic and V6 AWD combination continued on SXT and SXT Plus.
  • R/T Road & Track retained its 3.06 axle, performance chassis, paddle shifters and available Super Track Pak.
  • The top model was presented as Charger SRT while retaining the 470-hp 6.4-liter HEMI formula introduced for 2012.

Worth knowing

Notable

  • The 14 core pages preserve every documented trim/transmission/drivetrain boundary without inventing SE, Road & Track or SRT AWD.
  • Blacktop added gloss-black 20-inch wheels and trim; Rallye added its own appearance treatment, and both carried the 300-hp V6 calibration.
  • R/T Max continued as the technology-oriented HEMI flagship beneath SRT.
  • SRT retained 470 hp and 470 lb-ft, three-mode adaptive damping and Brembo four-piston brakes.

Living with it

Reliability & ownership notes

  • SE again has two transmission possibilities; verify the five- versus eight-speed unit before ordering service parts.
  • The 300-hp calibration belongs to documented Rallye Appearance/Blacktop packages and must not be assigned to every SXT or SXT Plus.
  • AWD remains limited to SXT/SXT Plus and R/T/R/T Plus/R/T Max; Road & Track and SRT remain rear-drive in the factory guide.
  • The 3.6-, 5.7- and 6.4-liter engines require different filters, spark plugs, fluids and service intervals.
