The 2019 model year

Overview

Dodge reorganized the 2019 retail Charger range into six core models: SXT RWD, SXT AWD, GT RWD, R/T, Scat Pack and SRT Hellcat. The change moved GT to rear-wheel drive, returned AWD under the SXT name and removed SXT Plus, GT Plus, Daytona, Daytona 392 and SRT 392 as separate models. A limited SRT Hellcat Octane Edition joined later, while the police catalog separately retained three Pursuit powertrains.

Year over year

What changed

  • GT became a rear-drive 300-hp V6 model; SXT AWD became the only retail AWD configuration.
  • R/T received the performance exterior, seats, suspension and steering previously associated with appearance/performance packages.
  • R/T Scat Pack was renamed Scat Pack and gained SRT-derived fascia, launch control, line lock and standard high-performance hardware.
  • The limited Hellcat Octane Edition added a factory blacked-out visual specification without changing engine output.

Notable

  • Ten dedicated pages cover six regular retail models, the limited Hellcat Octane Edition and three Pursuit configurations.
  • The regular Charger SRT Hellcat remained rated at 707 hp; the Challenger's 717-hp change does not transfer to this sedan year.
  • Daytona and Daytona 392 were no longer separate retail models for 2019.
  • The factory Pursuit record continues V6 RWD, V8 RWD and V8 AWD even though retail V8 AWD remained unavailable.

Reliability & ownership notes

  • The 2019 SXT AWD/GT drivetrain assignment reverses the 2018 naming pattern; order driveline and suspension parts by exact year and VIN.
  • GT is rear-drive for 2019, despite the same name denoting AWD in 2018.
  • Scat Pack replaces the former R/T Scat Pack name and should not be confused with the discontinued SRT 392 trim.
  • Pursuit V8 AWD remains fleet-only and uses its own five-speed transmission and duty-cycle components.
