Wiesmann Project Thunderball History

Announced in April 2022 after London-based investor Roheen Berry revived the dormant brand, the Project Thunderball is Wiesmann's first all-electric car and its first new model since the original company's 2014 closure. Berry had originally intended to launch a petrol-powered car (the 'Project Gecko' V8), but pivoted to prioritize the EV roadster.

The Thunderball is powered by a rear-mid-mounted twin-electric-motor system supplied by Roding, targeting 500 kW (671 hp) and 1,100 Nm of torque, with a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 2.9 seconds and a WLTP range target of 500 km from its 92 kWh, 800-volt battery pack — supporting up to 300 kW DC fast charging. Priced from around €300,000 ($320,000), the entire first year of production sold out before customer deliveries began in 2024.

Styling retains Wiesmann's retro-forward DNA — open roadster form, wide haunches, and the gecko badge — while the platform moves decisively into the EV era. Production takes place at the company's Gecko facility in Dülmen, continuing the brand's tradition of low-volume handbuilt German craftsmanship.
