AC Brooklands Ace History

In the early 1990s, under Brian Angliss's Autokraft operation (which had built the Cobra Mk IV since 1983), AC developed an entirely new sports roadster that revived the Ace name. Launched at the 1993 London Motor Show, it used a stainless-steel chassis and an aluminium body — a modern interpretation of the classic formula rather than a retro replica — and was aimed at European and North American buyers.

Approximately 50 Brooklands Aces were completed before Autokraft entered receivership in 1996, cutting the project short. Like the original Ace, it has since attracted a dedicated following; unlike the original, it never found the American V8 partnership that would have given it an enduring legacy.
