History

The Greyhound was unveiled at the 1959 Earls Court Motor Show as AC's attempt to offer a proper four-seat grand tourer alongside the two-seat Ace and Aceca. It used an aluminium fastback body styled by AC's chief engineer Alan Turner on a tubular-steel chassis stretched ten inches over the Ace's wheelbase, with revised coil-spring independent front suspension in place of the Ace's transverse leaf spring.

Engine options were the Bristol and Ford Zephyr sixes. Heavier and more expensive than the two-seaters, the Greyhound sold slowly in the face of powerful GT competition from Aston Martin and Jaguar; just 83 were built between 1959 and 1963, making it one of the rarest production ACs.
