Perodua Kelisa History

Launched in 2001, the Kelisa (named for the arowana fish native to Malaysia) was built on the fifth-generation Daihatsu Mira (L700) platform and offered as a fresher, more modern alternative to the aging Kancil. Two engine options were available: an 847 cc and a 989 cc three-cylinder unit.

The Kelisa holds the distinction of being Perodua's first — and so far only — model exported to a right-hand-drive export market outside ASEAN, reaching the United Kingdom between 2003 and 2005 where it was sold as the budget city car with competitive pricing. A facelift in 2003 added minor styling tweaks and the Imago variant appeared in 2006.

Production ended in 2007 when the Perodua Viva superseded both the Kelisa and Kenari.
