History
The Alza was launched on 23 November 2009 as Perodua's first purpose-built MPV, based on the Daihatsu Boon Luminas. It offered seven seats in a compact B-segment footprint, powered by a 1.5 L engine, and went on sale at an affordable price that beat rival Proton Exora by a significant margin — the Alza sold nearly 42,000 units in its first full year (2010), making it Malaysia's best-selling MPV.
The first generation received facelifts in 2014 and 2018 and accumulated over 340,000 sales before being replaced. A second-generation model arrived in July 2022, based this time on the Daihatsu Xenia (W100 platform), with a 1.5 L 2NR-VE engine and D-CVT as the sole powertrain, updated styling, and a more sophisticated interior.
