History
The Kancil (Malay for 'mouse deer') rolled off the line on 28 August 1994, just days after Perodua's factory opened, and went on sale as Malaysia's most affordable car. It was a rebadged third-generation Daihatsu Mira, a five-door city hatchback built around a 660 cc three-cylinder engine.
An 850 cc variant followed in August 1996, and the car received two facelifts — in 1997 and 1999 — gaining a restyled grille, revised lighting, and updated interior trim. A fuel-injected 850 cc version arrived later, bringing the top output to 50 PS.
The Kancil held the title of Malaysia's cheapest car across its entire 15-year run. Production ended on 20 July 2009 when the Perodua Viva took over its entry-level role.

Post-1999 facelift with fuel-injected 850 cc option (50 PS); base 660 cc remained available until production ended July 2009.
