History

Launched on 15 September 2014, the Axia replaced the aging Viva as Perodua's entry-level car and immediately claimed the title of Malaysia's most affordable new vehicle. Unlike its predecessors it used a modern 1.0 L EFI engine with five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission on a Daihatsu-derived B200 platform.

The Axia topped Malaysia's overall sales charts for three consecutive years — 2015 through 2017 — reinforcing Perodua's dominance at the volume end of the market. The first-generation car received facelifts in 2017 and 2019 before the second generation arrived on 14 February 2023, bringing updated styling and a revised powertrain.
