Perodua Ativa History
History
Launched in March 2021, the Ativa (internal code D55L) is based on the Daihatsu Rocky and rides on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform — the first Perodua to do so. It introduced a turbocharged 1.0 L three-cylinder engine producing 98 PS and 140 Nm, making it the first and only turbocharged Perodua to date.
The Ativa also brought Level-2 ADAS features — adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist — at a price point well below rival offerings, reflecting how far Perodua's engineering ambition had grown since the Kancil. It sold 26,847 units in its first partial year (2021), immediately outselling the Aruz.
