Li Auto Li L8 History

The Li L8 was presented in September 2022 alongside the L7, with first deliveries in China arriving in late 2022. It replaced the Li ONE directly, occupying the same mid-size six-seat slot at a similar price point, and was positioned as a direct continuation of the EREV formula for family buyers.

Like the L9, the L8 uses a 1.5-litre range-extender generator feeding a lithium iron phosphate battery and dual motors. Its slightly smaller dimensions and three-row six-seat layout (versus the L9's larger body) made it the more accessible premium EREV option, keeping it as one of Li Auto's consistent volume sellers through 2023–2025.

An all-new second-generation L8 was announced for launch in mid-2026, signalling a full platform evolution for the nameplate.
