Lamborghini Urraco History

Unveiled at the 1970 Turin Motor Show, the Urraco was Lamborghini's attempt to compete with the Ferrari Dino with a smaller, more affordable mid-engine 2+2 — powered by a transverse DOHC V8 rather than a V12. Production began in earnest in 1973.

Three engine variants were offered: the P250 (2.5-litre V8), the P200 (2.0-litre for markets with small-displacement tax breaks), and the high-performance P300 (3.0-litre). Industrial difficulties and the 1973 oil crisis hampered sales; fewer than 800 total examples were built before production ended in 1979, succeeded by the Silhouette.
