History
Introduced in 1968 as a discreet, Marazzi-bodied successor to the 400 GT, the Islero offered the same 3.9-litre V12 in a more conservative, aerodynamic two-door body. Its subdued styling — quite deliberately different from the flamboyant Miura — made it a favourite of Ferruccio Lamborghini himself, who reportedly drove one as his personal car.
The Islero was built in two versions: the base Islero and the improved Islero S of 1969, which gained a power bump and revised suspension. Production ended in 1969 after approximately 225 examples; the model was superseded by the Jarama.
