History
The Jalpa succeeded the Silhouette at the 1981 Geneva Motor Show as Lamborghini's 'affordable' sports car — a 3.5-litre DOHC V8-powered targa designed to broaden the marque's reach while the V12 Countach occupied the flagship slot.
Named after a breed of fighting bull, the Jalpa featured a more modern body styled by Bertone and was produced in 410 examples between 1981 and 1988. It appeared in the James Bond film 'Octopussy' (1983), boosting its public profile. The Jalpa was the last small-engine Lamborghini until the Gallardo arrived in 2003.
