Jaecoo Jaecoo J7 History

The Jaecoo J7 debuted as a concept called the 'Chery TJ-1 C-DM' at Auto Shanghai in April 2023, then launched in China in August 2023 under the name Chery Tansuo 06. Internationally it carried the Jaecoo J7 badge, entering its first market — Russia — in September 2023. Built on Chery's T1X platform, the J7 is a C-segment crossover measuring 4,451–4,501 mm long on a 2,650 mm wheelbase, offering a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 145 kW (194 hp) paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

A plug-in hybrid variant (J7 SHS-P / PHEV) followed in 2024, mating a 1.5-litre turbo to an electric motor for 255 kW (342 hp) combined output and an electric-only range of approximately 88 km. The interior features a Qualcomm 8155-powered 14.8-inch touchscreen, head-up display, wireless charging, and Level 2+ driver-assistance systems. In 2025 the J7 achieved five-star safety ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP — a strong credential for a brand less than two years old — and a mild-hybrid SHS-H variant was added in 2026.

By 2024 the J7 had rolled out across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East, with local assembly established in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Iran. It remains Jaecoo's flagship volume model and the primary vehicle underpinning the brand's global expansion.
