History

The Aion V was revealed on GAC New Energy's WeChat in May 2020 and launched commercially on 16 June 2020, becoming the brand's third model and second SUV after the LX. Its first generation used a 135 kW (184 hp) front motor paired with 70 or 73 kWh LFP battery packs (NEDC 400–600 km depending on trim), and was notable for integrating Huawei 5G and V2X communication systems — unusual technology for a mainstream-price segment vehicle.

A major facelift, the Aion V Plus, arrived in 2021 with revised exterior styling inspired by the LX. A full second-generation Aion V followed in 2024, bringing a new platform and updated powertrain. The model is manufactured at GAC Aion's Guangzhou plant, which reached 200,000 units of annual capacity after expansions completed in 2022.
