History

The Aion RT was first disclosed by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in September 2024 and officially launched on 6 November 2024, priced from 119,800 CNY (approximately 16,700 USD) across five trims. Built on GAC's AEP 3.0 pure-electric platform with 400V silicon carbide technology, it offers two LFP battery packs — 55.1 kWh (520 km CLTC) and 68.1 kWh (650 km CLTC) — and carries a drag coefficient of 0.208 Cd under a 'Velociraptor' design theme.

The RT positions Aion against the fast-expanding Chinese value EV sedan segment occupied by models such as the BYD Seal and Chery Arrizo. Its AEP 3.0 underpinning represents GAC Aion's latest-generation platform, designed for cost efficiency and extended range without requiring the higher-capacity (and more expensive) battery chemistry used in flagship models like the LX Plus.
