History

The Aion Y entered production in April 2021 as a subcompact crossover slotting below the Aion V. Compact overall (approximately 4,435 mm length in base form), it targeted urban buyers with a competitive price point and was available with lithium iron phosphate or NCM battery options covering NEDC ranges from roughly 400 to 600 km. Its accessible pricing made it one of the highest-selling models in the Aion lineup.

In October 2022 the Aion Y Plus was unveiled — a slightly longer (4,535 mm) variant with styling cues borrowed from the Aion V Plus and an improved interior. From 2023 onward, the Y Plus was exported overseas and produced in right-hand-drive form for markets including Southeast Asia, contributing to Aion's international growth ambitions.
