History

The Jaecoo J6 is a rebadged version of the iCar 03, an electric compact SUV developed under Chery's iCar brand that was unveiled at Auto Shanghai in April 2023. Internationally the vehicle was introduced under the Jaecoo banner at a brand convention in China in April 2024, with export sales beginning that same year. It measures 4,406 mm long on a 2,715 mm wheelbase and is characterized by upright, boxy proportions referencing the Land Rover Defender — a design choice that differentiates it sharply from the rounded J7.

The J6 EV is powered by a 69.8 kWh battery capable of up to 501 km on the CLTC cycle in the long-range rear-wheel-drive variant; an AWD version adds a front motor for a combined 279 hp (208 kW) and 385 N·m. DJI-supplied ADAS and an optional solar panel roof are available across some market variants. Sales launched in Thailand in August 2024 and the vehicle appeared at South Africa's Festival of Motoring in August 2024; Malaysian market launch was being evaluated into 2025.
