Great Wall Motors Wingle History
History
Launched in 2006 as the successor to the Deer, the Wingle is a series of mid-size pickups offered in single- and double-cab configurations with petrol or diesel engines and 2WD or 4WD drivetrains.
The Wingle became GWM's primary export pickup, reaching over 120 countries; it was the first Chinese-manufactured ute sold in Australia (from 2009) and was marketed in the UK and Italy as the Steed from 2012 onward.
The series has evolved through multiple numbered variants (Wingle 3, 5, 6, 7) and remains in production, forming the foundation of GWM's global pickup business.
