History

Debuted at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and entering production in November 2014, the Haval H9 is GWM's full-size body-on-frame SUV, positioned as a capable off-roader in the class of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Mitsubishi Pajero.

Built on the same P71 platform later shared with the GWM Cannon pickup, the H9 offers locking differentials, low-range gearing, and available 7-seat layouts — making it GWM's answer for serious off-road buyers who want a premium Chinese alternative to Japanese ladder-frame rivals.

A second generation was introduced in early 2024 with revised styling and updated powertrains.
