History

Launched at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, the Haval H6 is a compact crossover SUV that became the defining product of both the Haval brand and Great Wall Motors as a whole. Affordable, well-equipped, and broadly competitive, it dominated the Chinese SUV sales chart for 103 consecutive months — a record that stood uncontested for nearly a decade.

The H6 set a single-month Chinese sales record of 80,495 units in December 2016; the millionth example had rolled off the Tianjin production line in November 2015, just four years and three months after launch. By 2024, cumulative global sales exceeded four million units.

Three distinct generations have been sold: the first (2011–2017) established the nameplate with a 1.5-litre turbo; the second (2017–2020) introduced more power via a 2.0-litre turbo and a dual-label strategy; the third (2020–present) moved onto the Lemon platform and added hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrains.
