Geely Emgrand History
History
After the 2014 brand consolidation that retired the stand-alone Emgrand sub-brand, the compact sedan continued simply as the Geely Emgrand. The second-generation car debuted at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, carrying Geely's new Earth emblem and targeting a slightly more upmarket compact buyer while retaining the EC7's BMA-related platform DNA.
By its fourth generation the Emgrand moved to Geely's B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA), improving safety scores and connectivity. Fourteen years after the EC7 launch, the nameplate had accumulated more than 3.8 million global sales and was consistently producing over 200,000 units per year — making it Geely's single best-selling model worldwide.
A fifth-generation Emgrand was unveiled in October 2025, continuing the nameplate's evolution as Geely's volume compact-car anchor.
