History

Launched on 26 March 2016, the Boyue was Geely's strategic entry into the hotly contested Chinese compact-SUV segment. Designed under Peter Horbury and built on the NL modular platform influenced by Geely's 2010 acquisition of Volvo, it blended traditional Chinese design cues with modern styling. Geely sold 109,000 Boyue units in 2016 alone, and total production crossed 700,000 within 36 months of launch.

Exported as the Geely Atlas in markets including Russia, Belarus, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, the Boyue became Geely's primary global SUV ambassador. It was powered by 1.5-turbo and 1.8-turbo four-cylinder engines mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch, with some variants offering all-wheel drive.

A second-generation Boyue Pro arrived in 2019 with updated 1.5-turbo (co-developed with Volvo) and 1.8-turbo engines and the GKUI19 infotainment system. The Boyue X followed in October 2021 as an updated Boyue Pro with Geely's new 'Vision Starburst' design language.
