Deepal S05 History

Pre-orders for the S05 opened on 20 September 2024, with the formal China launch following on 20 October 2024 at a starting price of approximately RMB 119,900 (~$16,900 USD). The compact crossover fills the entry point of Deepal's SUV line-up below the mid-size S07, targeting buyers stepping up from the city-car segment.

The S05 is available in BEV and EREV variants sharing a C-segment body (4,620 mm, 2,880 mm wheelbase) and CATL LFP battery packs from 27.3 to 68.8 kWh. A standout feature is Huawei's xPixel adaptive headlight system, a 1.3-million-pixel unit capable of projecting a 120-inch display onto the road surface — used for navigation arrows, hazard warnings, and entertainment. An AWD variant with 429 hp was introduced for Europe.

Ramp-up was rapid: 26,124 units sold in 2024 (its launch year), growing to 97,277 units in 2025 as the model found its footing as Deepal's volume leader in the compact SUV segment.
