Deepal G318 History
History
The G318 made its debut at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show in March and went on sale on 13 June 2024 with a price range of RMB 175,900–318,000 (~$24,300–$43,900). The name references China's National Highway 318, the legendary Sichuan–Tibet route — a deliberate nod to overlanding culture and a contrast to the brand's urban-focused models.
Unlike the S-series crossovers, the G318 is built on a ladder-frame-capable platform optimised for serious off-road use: ground clearance reaches 240 mm, approach angle is 27°, departure angle 31°, and five dedicated terrain modes cover wading, snow, rough terrain, mud, and sand. A 1,600 kg tow rating and a 1.5T range-extending engine with CLTC comprehensive range of approximately 1,000 km make it practical over long wilderness routes.
The powertrain is EREV-only, using a 112 kW (150 hp) 1.5-litre turbo generator paired with electric motor(s) in single- and dual-motor configurations. The battery is a 35 kWh Changan 'Golden Bell' pack, giving roughly 190 km of pure electric range (CLTC) before the generator kicks in.
