Cupra Tavascan History
History
The Cupra Tavascan was first shown as a concept at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and confirmed for production in March 2021. It officially launched in April 2023 and entered customer deliveries in 2024. Unlike the Born — built in Germany — the Tavascan is manufactured by Volkswagen Anhui, a VW–JAC joint venture in China, making it the first Cupra model produced outside Europe.
Built on the MEB electric platform, the Tavascan is offered in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, with the dual-motor VZ version producing around 340 PS. Its coupe-SUV silhouette positions it as the performance alternative to the Volkswagen ID.5 within the VW Group family.
