History

The Cupra León joined the standalone Cupra lineup in February 2020 (revealed alongside the Formentor). It is the fourth generation of the SEAT León platform in Cupra performance guise, but now carrying solely the Cupra badge rather than a SEAT-Cupra combination. The hatchback offers up to 310 PS from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, with a plug-in hybrid variant (245 PS combined system output) also available.

The Sportstourer estate variant extends the lineup with a practical load area while offering the same power outputs — including the 310 PS all-wheel-drive version, making it one of the fastest performance estates in its class. Competitors include the Renault Mégane R.S., Volkswagen Golf R, and Honda Civic Type R.
