History
The Audi e-tron (later renamed Q8 e-tron) arrived in May 2019 as Audi's first battery-electric production vehicle — a premium five-door SUV positioned directly against the Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes EQC. Built at Audi's Brussels plant on an adapted MLB Evo platform, it offered around 204–222 miles of EPA range depending on specification and used a standard 11 kW AC charger with a 150 kW DC fast-charging option.
A sloped-roof e-tron Sportback variant joined the lineup in 2020. A 2022 facelift refreshed the exterior and improved the range, at which point Audi renamed the model Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron to align it with the combustion Q8 line.
Despite being Audi's EV pioneer, the Q8 e-tron struggled commercially. Audi announced in October 2024 that production would end at the Brussels plant in February 2025, closing the factory and ending the nameplate after a seven-year run.
