The 2004 model year

Overview

For 2004 Chevrolet added a half-ton Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with a 5-foot-8-inch Fleetside box. The factory information kit names LS and LT trims with two- and four-wheel drive, and its lineup table specifies the 5.3L Vortec 5300 V8 and four-speed automatic for that Crew Cab. This guide covers four documented 1500 Crew Cab versions: LS and LT with 2WD or 4WD. More 2004 versions remain under research, including Regular and Extended Cab trucks, SS and heavy-duty models.

Year over year

What changed

  • The new half-ton Crew Cab combined four full-size doors with a new 5-foot-8-inch cargo box. This statement concerns the 1500 introduction, not the first Crew Cab across all Chevrolet truck families.

Worth knowing

Notable

  • Match the engine and VIN code before using the parts references. Four-wheel drive alone does not identify which transfer-case option was installed; transfer-case service is not assigned from the drive badge alone.
