Introduced in 1970 to broaden Anadol's appeal, the A2 was a stretched four-door saloon sharing the A1's fiberglass construction and Ford Kent drivetrain. Otosan and the brand's supporters claimed it was the first fiberglass-bodied four-door sedan to enter series production anywhere in the world — a distinction that reflects the unusual material choice rather than any exotic performance intent.
The A2 used the same 1.2-litre and 1.3-litre Ford Kent engines as the A1 and sold steadily through the 1970s as a practical family car for the Turkish market. Its production run of 35,668 units made it the best-selling Anadol model, accounting for a significant share of the brand's total output.
Production continued until 1981, overlapping the introduction of the later A8-16 sedan. The A2's longevity — eleven years — testified to both the loyalty of Turkish buyers and the limited competition for domestically assembled passenger cars in the period.
