History

Unveiled in June 2015 and reaching the US as a 2017 model, the Giulia (Type 952) represented Alfa Romeo's most significant engineering commitment in decades: a bespoke longitudinal rear-wheel-drive platform (Giorgio), the first mass-market Alfa with that layout since the 75 was discontinued in 1992. It was also the first Alfa sedan sold in the US since the 164 departed after 1995.

The top Giulia Quadrifoglio carried a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 developed with Ferrari, producing 503 hp — enough to lap the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 32 seconds at launch. Motor Trend named it Car of the Year for 2018, and the standard Giulia placed second in 2017 European Car of the Year voting. Lower trims use a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder.
