History

Launched at the 2000 Turin Motor Show as a replacement for the 145 and 146 hatchbacks, the 147 (Type 937) was built on the running gear of the larger 156 and featured distinctive three- and five-door hatchback bodies. It won the 2001 European Car of the Year award.

A total of 651,823 units were produced across the 147's ten-year lifespan. The GTA variant used the same 3.2-litre V6 as the 156 GTA. The 147 was eventually replaced by the Giulietta in 2010.
