History

Launched in 1948 with the 6/80, the 4/50 was the four-cylinder version of the same body, using a 1.5-litre overhead-camshaft straight-four of around 50 hp. It was positioned as a more luxurious relation of the Morris Oxford.

The 4/50 never matched the appeal of its six-cylinder sibling, selling roughly a third as many cars, and contemporary reviewers found it on the heavy and leisurely side. It was discontinued in 1953, replaced by the lighter 4/44.
