Wolseley 1500 History

Launched in 1957, the Wolseley 1500 used the Morris Minor's floorpan, suspension and steering but fitted the larger 1,489 cc B-series engine, making a roomy, refined small saloon with the marque's wood-and-leather feel. It was sold alongside the more powerful twin-carburettor Riley One-Point-Five, which shared the same body.

The economy-minded single-carburettor Wolseley comfortably outsold its Riley sister — about 103,394 were built against fewer than 20,000 Rileys — and BMC's Australian operation also produced it locally from 1958. Production ran to 1965.
