History

The LUX A2.0 was unveiled alongside the LUX SA2.0 SUV at the 2018 Paris Motor Show — VinFast's splashy global debut — and went into full production at the Hai Phong factory in September 2019. Its exterior was designed by Pininfarina, and the platform was licensed from BMW (F10 5 Series), giving the otherwise brand-new company a proven rear-wheel-drive architecture.

Power came from a BMW N20B20 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, offered in 173 hp and 228 hp states of tune, mated to an 8-speed automatic. The cabin centred on a 10.4-inch touchscreen and positioned the LUX A2.0 as an aspirational flagship for the Vietnamese middle class. Like all VinFast ICE models, production ceased in 2022 when the brand went all-electric.
