History
Launched in June 2019 alongside the LUX siblings, the Fadil was VinFast's most accessible model and Vietnam's first domestically assembled entry-level car sold at volume. It was built on the Opel Karl (Vauxhall Viva) platform, giving it a familiar subcompact architecture in a locally branded body. A 1.4-litre four-cylinder producing 98 hp drove the front wheels through a CVT.
Despite its humble underpinnings the Fadil resonated strongly in the Vietnamese market, topping domestic sales charts in 2021. Production ended in 2022 when VinFast discontinued all internal-combustion-engine vehicles to pursue an all-electric strategy — the Fadil's role as urban entry point passing to the compact VF electric lineup.
