The Viva was Vauxhall's serious post-war push into the small-car market, launched as the HA in September 1963 and built across three series — HA, HB and HC. It shared a GM project with the Opel Kadett A but was a distinct Vauxhall product.
The 1966 HB brought handsome American-influenced coke-bottle styling and much-improved handling, while the 1970 HC carried the line through to 1979. The end of the HC marked a milestone: it was the last Vauxhall designed wholly in-house, with no Opel input. The Viva was effectively replaced by the front-wheel-drive Astra.

Larger, with admired coke-bottle styling and far better road manners; widely rated one of the best-looking saloons of its era.
HC · Viva HC
More modern styling and a roomier cabin; the last fully Vauxhall-designed car before the Opel-based era.
