Vauxhall Victor History

Launched on 28 February 1957 to replace the Wyvern, the original F-series Victor was a heavily American-styled family car and a strong export earner, with the first series alone selling well over 390,000 units.

It ran across five series — F, FB, FC, FD and FE — growing larger and more conventional over time, the FC and later cars adopting coke-bottle styling and the FE of 1972 sharing engineering with the Opel Rekord. The Victor name was dropped in 1976 when the car was renamed the VX Series, which ran until 1978; the line was effectively replaced by the Opel-based Carlton.
