History
Vauxhall imported the Holden Monaro from Australia and sold it in the UK from 2004, giving the brand a rare modern rear-wheel-drive V8 coupe. Early cars used a 5.7-litre LS1 V8 derived from the Chevrolet Corvette engine family.
The Monaro was short-lived in the UK, replaced from 2007 by the saloon-bodied VXR8. A handful of high-output specials, including the supercharged VXR-badged cars, marked its final year before it gave way to the VXR8.
