Vauxhall Insignia History
History
The Insignia was revealed at the 2008 British International Motor Show in London and went on sale that autumn, replacing both the Vectra and the Signum under one nameplate. A polished, upmarket move for the brand, it was named European Car of the Year for 2009.
A second generation arrived in late 2017, including the Insignia Grand Sport hatchback and Sports Tourer estate, plus a more rugged Country Tourer and the performance GSi. As a rebadged Opel Insignia, it was Vauxhall's largest car until the model was withdrawn in 2022 as the brand's range shifted toward SUVs.
