Vauxhall Calibra History

Launched on 10 June 1989, the Calibra was Vauxhall's elegant coupe, built on the running gear of the first-generation Vectra/Cavalier and intended to replace the old Opel Manta. At launch it was the most aerodynamic production car in the world, with a drag coefficient of just 0.26.

Initially front-wheel drive, it gained a four-wheel-drive option in late 1990 and, higher up, turbocharged and 16-valve engines. Around 238,000 Opel and Vauxhall Calibras were built before production ended in 1997, with UK sales continuing into 1998.
