History
While still operating as Saab-Valmet, the Uusikaupunki plant took on a supplemental assembly contract beginning in 1979: Chrysler Europe (later PSA/Talbot) models including the Simca-Talbot Horizon, Simca 1307/1508, and the Talbot Solara. This ran alongside the core Saab work for nearly a decade.
A total of 31,978 Talbot-family cars were completed in Finland between 1979 and 1987, demonstrating the plant's capacity to handle multi-brand contracts — a capability that would define Valmet's business model in the decades that followed.
