Trumpchi GA4 History

The GA4 replaced the larger GA5 as Trumpchi's bread-and-butter sedan, launching in China on January 18, 2018 after a splashy global debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It was a front-wheel-drive compact measuring 4,692 mm long on a 2,660 mm wheelbase, offered with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder (114 hp) or a 1.3-liter turbocharged unit (137 hp).

GAC announced plans at the time to bring the GA4 and related models to North America by 2019, positioning the brand as a budget-friendly alternative to Japanese and Korean compacts. Those US-market ambitions were quietly shelved amid geopolitical headwinds and trade uncertainty. In China the GA4 sold in the 74,000–116,000 yuan range and ran until 2023, when the Empow sport sedan stepped into its market position.
