History

Debuted as a concept at Auto Expo 2014, the production Tata Nexon went on sale in September 2017 and rapidly became one of India's top-selling compact crossovers. Its combination of bold styling, diesel and petrol options, and a five-star Global NCAP safety rating made it a benchmark in the segment.

In late 2019 Tata launched the Nexon EV, making it the first affordable battery-electric compact SUV in India. The Nexon EV became India's best-selling electric vehicle, cementing Tata's leadership in the country's growing EV market. The Nexon EV Max, with a longer-range battery, followed in May 2022.

Major facelifts arrived in January 2020 (Impact 2.0 design language, BS-VI engines) and September 2023 (full-width LED light bar, extensively updated interior). By March 2025 Tata had produced 800,000 Nexons.
