Tata Motors Indigo History
History
Launched in January 2002, the Tata Indigo grew the Indica's platform into a conventional three-box sedan with a longer wheelbase to accommodate a proper boot. It targeted buyers who wanted the Indica's value and diesel economy in a more formal body style.
The Indigo family expanded to include the Indigo CS (a compact 'notchback' aimed at Indian tax-bracket rules that favour shorter cars) and the Indigo Marina (an estate/wagon). The Indigo was ultimately succeeded by the Tigor for the compact-sedan slot.

Indigo CS
A compact 'notchback' variant under 4 metres, designed to qualify for India's smaller-car excise duty bracket; facelifted and rebadged as the Indigo eCS in 2010, which continued until 2016.
